Every week, our staff travel to migrant schools to bring hope that changes lives as well as play games, teach English, Thai and Bible lessons. They also give school teachers a chance to rest.
One of these schools has only 4 teachers for almost 120 students. Paid less than $150 a month, the teachers sleep at school without a cell signal and depend on a donated filtration system for clean water. And if term-time isn't hard enough, during the 3-month summer breaks they are forced to find alternative work or go without income.
Earlier this year Headteacher Kay, was diagnosed with cancer. Fearing for her health, her job and the school's survival, she said her Buddhist prayers. Despite her uneasy heart she kept a smile and stayed strong for the children and staff who depended on her.

With nowhere to turn and only one month's salary left in her bank account, she shared her fears with Nation to Nation. We offered to drive her to the hospital in another city where she'd received her diagnosis. She was overjoyed and we prayed right there at school for healing and again at the Hub before she left. Wa So, one of our team leads, accompanied her to the hospital, staying overnight with her. They chatted for almost the entire night and before sleeping Wa So prayed for healing for Kay, telling her that our God is a living God who answers those who call on his name.
Despite arriving at the hospital early for tests, they waited almost the whole day to see the doctor for the results. While waiting they received a paper written in Thai. Confused, WaSo sent a photo to our team for translation. The paper seemed to say 'no cancer'. Kay and Wa So were shocked. Finally, they saw doctor and asked, 'Is it true?' The doctor confirmed - the headteacher was cancer-free!
In her joy, she exclaimed, 'Thank you Jesus! I prayed to my God but he didn't answer. When we prayed to the living God, he answered.' After one prayer to Jesus, she was healed!
