A Harvest of Hope

Writer: Nation to NationNation to Nation

Oh's farm has blossomed from the Seeds of Love she planted in 2024.

Having started with just a small garden, Oh now has a whole rice field.

Oh has been working for Nation to Nation since 2022. You may remember her from this blog post last year. She had a vision for a piece of land where children could have the “space to play and a space to grow vegetables or use their imagination to grow things on the land.” Nation to Nation supported her to sow this seed. Little did she know, this small seed would grow into a miraculous harvest!

Oh started by training children and their parents in basic farming techniques.

At first, Oh planted a variety of vegetables in the garden. She taught children and their parents about how to plant and grow things and how to raise chickens. Then, towards the end of last year, God took Oh's farming dream one step further - He gave her a whole field, ripe for the planting!

Oh decided to grow rice, knowing it is one of the most needed resources on the border. She was determined that her produce would go towards supporting the most vulnerable communities.

Still relatively new to farming, Oh chose not to use a fertiliser on her rice field for her first crop. So when it came to the time for harvest, we were all blown away by just how tall her rice had grown!

Between her field and her neighbour's field, there was a clear difference in the height of the crops, with Oh's standing tall and healthy, whilst her neighbour's were browned and patchy.

Oh's field is on the right and her neighbour's on the left.

Her neighbour came round, asking, "How did you manage to get your rice to grow so tall? Which fertiliser did you use?"

"None," she replied, "I prayed."

Some of our other staff members joined in the harvesting on their day off!

Oh gave all the glory to God for this miracle. She went on to harvest the rice and sell it at an affordable price to us, so that we could distribute it to all the vulnerable communities we partner with.

How many kilograms of rice are there?

Now, God's goodness just keeps on giving. Oh has started planting onions in her field, which we hope to purchase for our Family Sacs.

God can bring miraculous growth from every seed we plant!

Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
